You may be familiar with the power of words. Ever been in a room where people are being negative? Gossiping, ranting, 'word-puking'? If you have been around that, you may understand what it feels like- you physically may feel nauseous, get a headache all of a sudden, or even have physical pain. The Bible says that life and death are in the tongue. (Proverbs 18:21) But think about this for a moment.
With "words" the heavens and earth were created. With words.
“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” Proverbs 16:24
Words can bring life, as well as death. Coupled with the agreement of God's will, words can activate new life into being, revive the dead, heal the broken, and bring "thriving" life to what was merely "surviving".
You have an incredible gift- that mouth, that voice of yours. You have the power inside of you to exercise bringing life to people around you. But not only that, you have the power to bring life to yourself. Are you feeling weak? Broken? In need of life and encouragement? Listen to this...
You can take a passage of scripture and sing it over and over, and your soul will be revived. Did you know that? Maybe you are even in a place where you feel so weak you cannot muster up the strength to do that. You can play a song that is written in the spirit of prophesy, or straight scripture, play it over and over and let it speak to you.
Are you or someone you know struggling with sickness or depression? Will you dare to believe that there is the power of life wrapped up in words and song that is released to the physical body when spoken and sung? Create a playlist in your iTunes, or a "mix tape" of songs that "speak".
Songs that are packed with scripture are healing to your body.
When I first said "yes" to the Lord to release prophetic music it was because of this picture the Lord gave me:
The Lord showed me that emotional needs and mental heath are also physical ailments that are not exempt from acts of divine healing and that through music, specifically, the Word of God being spoken/sung over these, they would enter into living the abundant life. It was this picture that was like the defibrillator shock to my heart.
Before this picture, I was very shy about singing in public, even in front of my own husband. I feared judgement of men more than I believed God wanted to use my song.
I encountered God in a powerful way. I played prophetic music (Mostly Kimberly & Alberto Rivera) while I painted this. As I painted I began encountering the Lord in a powerful way.
Songs started flowing out of my mouth as I painted. I felt so dry for so many years. I even believed God wasn't speaking to me anymore. As I painted to that prophetic music, the floodgates of heaven opened. I began singing, prophesying, hearing God so clearly. I could hear the Lord whisper, "Will you sing? Will you believe I gave you song?”
Of course I am speaking from a very personal encounter with God, but I believe this for everyone because the truth is that God's Word is alive and active (Hebrews 4:12) when you speak it or sing it, the Word of God literally interacts with your spirit and body. There is an untapped well of power in the Word; it is sitting there, in your Bible, waiting for you to hear it.
