What keeps Jesus praying all the time? Jesus always has been and always will be an Intercessor. This is part of His eternal identity in the Godhead. It’s the same as breathing- you don’t have to think about it or feel like doing it, it’s just what you do. Did you ever think about the job title Jesus was given?
It is interesting to think about the idea of a somber, emotionless God. Many people, from many different religions, view God this way. A higher power that sits above with no emotion- just power and a will I suppose. However, the God of the Bible is definitely not emotionless, and Jesus showed us that in how He demonstrated the Father.
Jesus- a man of ACTION! I know you think you are a very busy person, maybe too busy to pray, but do you realize that Jesus had to carefully and creatively create time alone with the Father? Look at how Jesus prioritized time alone with the Father in this week’s study.
Looking at the life of Christ as our example to follow, just the pure practice of prayer bewilders me. The reality that Jesus prayed. Not only did He pray, but He had a prayer life. Meaning, He had disciplines set in place for prayer so much so that many took notes and wrote them down for us. Jesus didn’t hide that He prayed, and He was sure to exemplified this in His words and deeds. But if anyone didn’t need to pray, wouldn’t it be Jesus?
When I think back to my early days as a believer, “after I was enlightened”, I remember the great struggles I endured. Sometimes we refer to this as the “working out of our salvation”, but these struggles, internally and externally, are the birth of our faith.
It has been three years since this encounter, and the Lord impressed upon my heart that it was time to share it. When you hear the names of certain countries, what do you think of? How does it make you feel? What do you find yourself reading and talking about when you are seeing the headlines you come across? And, what does God see & feel about these places? Are our thoughts and His aligned?
