In January, many people fast, or do diet cleanses, attempt to re-start their goals in prayer and spiritual disciplines, and it is a great time to do that. The beginning of the year is full of hope, its a clean slate. Over the years I have been very blessed by specific tools that have helped give me those spiritual disciplines and kept me growing in God. One of my favorite tools is Mike Bickle's "FELLOWSHIP" Prayer. (You can watch his teaching and download the full sheet of each prayer point HERE)
The Fellowship Prayer is an acronym and each letter is a prayer point that helps you strengthen yourself in your inner man. This staple prayer has helped me so much in times where I don't have enthusiasm to pray (I know thats hard to believe that I could lack enthusiasm!), needed help focusing, or just needed to strengthen myself. For several years I went through this prayer daily, and I am convinced it saved me from dullness and apathy for many of those years. I truly hope you will download the full prayer, and here I will just explore each point with you through the next 21-days while we are on our corporate fast at Convergence House of Prayer.
FEAR OF THE LORD
The first point is the "FEAR OF THE LORD". Why is this important in strengthening your inner man? I can't not express the gravity of living in a place before God where we have continued awareness of His greatness and His majesty. If we do anything less than tremble before Him in the realization of His goodness and mercy, we have not yet tasted awareness of His greatness. This is not only a discipline, but friends, this is the goal of every person who calls themself a follower of Christ. To live before His majesty with awareness of His greatness toward us who believe. This keeps us saved.
My desire is that you and I would live righteously before God and Man, and truly experience the life Christ died for us to have. Let's start by crying out to God for the Fear of the Lord to be released into our hearts.
Father, release the spirit of the fear of God into my heart. Strike my heart with the revelation of Your majesty, that I might live in awe before You. Release Your presence with Holy Dread that causes my Spirit to tremble before Your glorious majesty. Unite my heart to Your heart and Your Word and cause me to delight in the Fear of the Lord, in Jesus Name.
